You will arrive at the hospital three hours before your operation for all last-minute preparations. If you are not from the local area, you may wish to come a day early and stay overnight in a local hotel. The rate may be discounted if you tell them you are having surgery at Theda Clark Medical Center. About three hours before your scheduled operation, an intravenous infusion (IV) will be started, antibiotics and blood thinners will be administered and your nurse will complete a database consisting of questions and a basic physical exam.
